Sig Sauer P226 TACOPS 9mm on 6/10/15…

SIG SAUER P226 TACOPSGood morning all and Happy Hump Day!  Today brings a favorite of mine into the shop with the arrival of a new Sig Sauer P226 TACOPS chambered in 9mm.  I was taught from the time I was small that sidearms are defensive weapons and long guns are offensive weapons.  The is as combat ready as a defensive sidearm can be.  When you wrap your hand around the grip of this weapon, everything just feels right.  The ergonomics are spot on for anyone that does not have unusually small hands.  The grip is longer than the normal P226 and bottoms out with a flared mag well giving you a inviting opening for quick mag changes, and she comes with four 20 round magazines.  The backstrap of the grip leads you up to beautiful tang most people associate with a 1911 because of the beavertail extension at the top of the grip.  There are no manual safeties on this weapon, but she is DA/SA so there is a frame mounted decocker.  The Double Action/Single Action is a thing of beauty on this weapon due to the Short Reset Trigger (SRT) that Sig Sauer installs in their higher end weapons.  For safety sake, the DA trigger pull is listed at 10lbs but is smooth as silk.  The SA trigger pulls that follow for the next 20 rounds (unless you decock the weapon) are around 4 lbs of pull and the reset is unbelievably short.  When you become accustomed to this weapon, you can really start to roll rounds.  The sight picture is perfect.  She has Tritium SigLite Night Sights in the rear and a Tritium Fiber Optic sight in the front.  The total sight radius is 6.3″ which is a great distance for those of us whose eyes are changing as we pass 40 years of age.  I can’t speak highly enough about this weapon.  She is certainly not meant for concealed carry, but if you are looking for an unbeatable home defense or range weapon in 9mm, look no further.
