Florida 2026 Hunting Sales Tax Holiday: Firearms, Ammo & Accessories, Tax-Free

Florida Hunting Sales Tax Holiday 2026 promotion at Gunshine Arms — save sales tax on firearms, ammo, and accessories

From September 1 through December 31, 2026, the Florida Hunting Sales Tax Holiday lets you buy qualifying firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories with zero sales tax — and unlike the state’s shorter back-to-school holiday, there is no price cap on any of it. Signed into law by the Florida Legislature, this is a full four-month window to gear up and keep the tax you’d normally hand over to the state. At Gunshine Arms in Boca Raton, every qualifying item comes off the wall and out of the case tax-free for the entire period.

Why “No Price Cap” Changes Everything

Most Florida tax holidays come with a ceiling — spend over a set dollar amount and the exemption disappears. This one doesn’t work that way. Qualifying hunting supplies are tax-free no matter what they cost, which makes the Florida Hunting Sales Tax Holiday a genuine opportunity on higher-ticket purchases.

For example, on a $1,000 qualifying purchase you save roughly $65 in sales tax. Step up to a $1,500 build or optic and that’s about $97.50 back in your pocket. On a suppressor, a complete rifle, or a top-tier optic, the savings add up fast — and there’s no upper limit stopping you.

What Qualifies at Gunshine Arms

The state’s list is broad. Here’s what we carry that’s covered:

Firearms

Pistols, rifles, and shotguns — Title I and NFA items alike.

Ammunition

All ammunition as defined under Florida Statutes 790.001(1).

Firearm Accessories

  • Barrels
  • Cases and range bags
  • Charging handles
  • Cleaning kits
  • Handguards
  • Holsters
  • Internal parts and components
  • Magazines and other feeding devices or carriers
  • Pistol grips
  • Shooting chronographs
  • Shooting mats, rests, and bipods
  • Sights and optics
  • Slides and cylinders
  • Slings
  • Stocks and braces
  • Suppressors and silencers
  • Triggers

If it lives on a firearm or feeds one, chances are it qualifies. Stop in or call and we’ll confirm any specific item for you.

Suppressors, SBRs & NFA Items

Here’s where the “no price cap” rule really earns its keep. Suppressors and silencers are explicitly on the state’s qualifying list, and as a licensed SOT dealer, Gunshine Arms handles the full NFA process in-house — suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns.

And the timing has never been better. As of January 1, 2026, the federal $200 NFA tax stamp on suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs was eliminated — it’s now $0. Stack that on top of the state sales tax holiday, and a suppressor purchased in this window carries neither the old federal stamp cost nor Florida sales tax. The ATF process still applies — you’ll file a Form 4, pass the background check, and wait for approval before you take it home — but the two cost barriers that stood in the way for 90 years are both gone. There’s never been a better moment to start that paperwork.

The Fine Print

  • No price cap on qualifying firearms, ammunition, and accessories.
  • The exemption applies to purchases — it does not cover rental or repair of qualifying items.
  • The item has to be purchased within the window (September 1 – December 31, 2026) to qualify.
  • Applies to both in-store and online sales.

Don’t Wait — Four Months Goes Fast

Whether you’re finishing a build, stocking up on ammo, adding an optic, or finally pulling the trigger on a suppressor, this is the window to do it. The Florida Hunting Sales Tax Holiday runs September 1 through December 31, 2026 — plenty of runway to plan a purchase, but the best inventory moves first.
