The new ZEV Core AR15 Forged Pistol .300BLK just landed in the shop. ZEV has finally gotten into the AR game and the result is the awesomeness you are used to from Zev Technologies. Zev didn’t do this lightly. Last year Zev Technologies merged with Mega Arms who is known for their high-quality AR components. Zev is known for taking existing products (like a Glock) and making substantial improvements on them. The important part of the merger from the AR perspective is that Mega Arms had the better of the two manufacturing operations and the Mega Arms President, Mike Miller, has taken responsibility over the manufacturing side of the house for the now-expanded ZEV Tech. For fans of Mega Arms who were concerned about what would happen to one of their favorite brands, the fact that the same guy is in charge is sure to be a positive. This would appear to be a match made in heaven on multiple fronts.
The new ZEV Core AR15 Forged Pistol is what you would hope it would be. Here are list of the features:
- ZEV forged upper and lower receivers precision machined from 7075-T6 aluminum for strength and light weight, finished in true black type III class 2 hard coat anodize.
- ZEV Wedge Lock hand guard provides a full length continuous top rail with M-LOK mounting system. The integrated anti-rotation pin ensures a consistently aligned and continuous top rail with the upper receiver.
- AR Pistol 8.5˝ barrel chambered in 300 Blackout with a 1:8 twist and pistol-length gas system.
- Low profile fixed gas block.
- H3 carbine buffer increases dwell time and reduces port pressure to ensure reliable extraction and a smooth recoil impulse.
- Mil-spec chrome lined BCG with a manganese phosphate finish for improved lubricity and corrosion resistance.
- Mil-spec trigger group, A2 flash hider, and operating controls.
- KAK Shockwave pistol brace and pistol buffer tube.
- Completed with Magpul hand grip and one PMAG magazine.
