Springfield M1A Precision on 5/23/15…
Good afternoon all and Happy Memorial Day weekend. Today brings a heck of a rifle into the shop and the historical significance of this weapon fits in well with our remembrance of those who fell in service to our nation. The Springfield M1A is the civilian version of the M14 rifle which began it’s service in the Armed Forces in the late 1950s. In 1974, Springfield Armory released the M1A Rifle. Early M1A rifles were built with surplus G.I. parts until Springfield Armory began producing their own. Over the past 4 decades, the M1A has won the hearts of the American people by evolving but maintaining a level of quality and craftsmanship consistent with its heritage. This brings us to the weapon that is in the shop today which is a precise, long range menace to its targets. The M1A Precision Adjustable is Springfield Armory’s latest entry into the M1A family of rifles. The first thing you will notice is the completely adjustable Archangel Stock which is drop-in fit. The are built entirely of proprietary, lightweight, carbon fiber reinforced polymer. The stock is impervious to weather, and will withstand all standard gun solvents and oils. Enough about the stock, lets get to the hardware. The barrel is 22″ (Twist 1 In 11″; RH) 6-Groove National Match Med. Wt. Premium Air Gauged; Stainless Steel. The Rear Sight is Match Grade (Non – Hooded .0520) Aperture w/ 1/2 MOA Adjustment For Windage and 1 MOA and the Front Sight is National Match .062″ Blade. This weapon weighs just under 12 lbs. empty. She comes with a 10 round metal box magazine and is chambered in 7.62×51/.308win. You will not find a finer weapon at this price from any manufacturer.
