SIG SAUER P220 MATCH ELITE 10MM on 4/10/15…

Good afternoon all.  In January of this year, SIG SAUER announced that they would be adding the 10MM caliber to their P220 line of weapons which previously had been exclusively chambered in .45acp.  There has been a LOT of anticipation both inside the firearms industry, and with hunters and enthusiasts about the release of this weapon.  Today brings the first one to Gunshine Arms.  I expect this weapon to disappear faster than an ice cold beer on a hot day…but that’s why I take photos and write the Blog.  These will be hard to come by for a while as the release was two days ago, but eventually they will be available in greater numbers.  Now for the fun part.

THIS IS A LARGE SIDEARM.  This weapon sports the Match Elite Stainless Steel Frame (natural stainless finish) with the Beavertail.  The slide is also Stainless Steel with a Nitron Black coating giving the weapon a reverse two-tone appearance.  That slide houses a 5″ barrel that is chambered in 10mm.  She is Double Action / Single Action and comes with the SRT Short Reset Trigger.  The magazines are single stack 8 rounders and she comes with two.  I own a P220 Combat in .45acp and it feels like a feather compared to this weapon which is extremely positive as 10mm is going to have a bit more recoil. Between the barrel length and the weight, my guess is that this sidearm will be a JOY to shoot.  Just to make sure that the operator can hang on to the weapon, SIG decided to put some nice G10 Piranha grips on to boot.  Just looking at this monstrosity puts an ear to ear grin on my face.  Kudos to the new owner which I assume will be walking through my door relatively soon after this post goes up.
