SIG SAUER MPX PISTOL vs. CZ SCORPION EVO PISTOL

 

 

Good afternoon all.  I like my job on an average day.  It’s inventory days like today that put a smile on my face that’s hard to miss.  Today the shop received the two most popular 9mm sub-guns on the market in the same shipment.  The SIG SAUER MPX PISTOL and the CZ SCORPION EVO PISTOL.   Both are chambered in 9mm and, for my Tax Stamp Collectors out there, either of these weapons would make one heck of an SBR.  Let’s get to the tale of the tape.  The MPX has an 8″ barrel and an overall length of 17″ while the SCORPION has an 7.75″ barrel and an overall length of 16″.  Both have adjustable sights but the MPX sights are flip-ups.  Both weapons have a small vertical hand stop attached to the bottom of the forward part of the upper receiver (just rear of the flash suppressors) to prevent powder burns or worse for people unaccustomed to handling a sub-gun.  The MPX comes with one 30 round magazine and the SCORPION comes with two 20 round magazines (CZ says that 30 round magazines are coming soon).  Both have ambidextrous safeties.  Now comes the part where the MPX earns the extra $500 on the price tag.  The MPX utilizes a closed, fully locked short stroke pushrod gas system.  The upper and lower receivers on the MPX are full metal while the SCORPION is all polymer.  The barrel on the SCORPION is cold hammer forged which is a big plus.  At the end of the day, the MPX outclasses the SCORPION, but if you asked me which has a better bang for the buck…the answer might sting a little.  As always, thank you for reading the Blog at gunshinearms.com
