SIG SAUER 1911 Carry TACOPS & P227 TACOPS 8/21/15…

 

 

Good afternoon all and Happy Friday!  As most of you know, I love a nice .45acp sidearm.  Today brings two sweet .45’s from SIG SAUER into the shop.  Let’s get started with the SIG SAUER 1911 TACOPS Carry.  This is a full steel framed 1911 with a 4.2″ barrel.  She has the tactical rail on the fore end which may not make 1911 traditionalists happy, but TACOPS stands for Tactical Operations and the ability to have a tactical light on your 1911 can come in handy.  There is a lot of positive traction from the Ergo XT Grips which cover a flared mag well.  The frame has checkering on the front and back straps for added grip.  The weapon comes with four 8 round magazines.  An ambidextrous safety and low profile Siglite Night Sights round out an amazing package with this weapon.

Sticking with the TACOPS theme, SIG SAUER came out with a new edition to the lineup this year in the P227 TACOPS.  This is a straight up combat sidearm chambered in .45acp and just holding it while I was photographing it this morning put a huge smile on my face.  The foundation is a Nitron coated alloy frame and she sports a 4.4″ barrel.  She has Black G10 grips that cover a flared mag well, which houses the 14 round magazines (this weapon comes with four of these beasts).  The standard TACOPS Siglite Rear Night Sights and Front Tritium Fiber Optic sight give this weapon one of the nicest sight pictures you will ever look through.  The true joy of these weapons resides in the SRT (short reset trigger) system.  The reset on this trigger (the P220 Combat that’s on my hip employs the same system) is so unbelievably short and crisp that it will change the way you think about engaging multiple targets once you become accustomed to it.  This weapon is a home run and I’m happy SIG decided to add the P227 to the TACOPS family this year.
