Rare Weapon – 1945 Walther P38K 9mm on 6/1/16…

Good afternoon all.  The rare German weapons just keep on coming this week.  The first one that I’m going to present to you actually gave me pause when I was taking it in.  The Walther P38K that you see in the photos was made in 1945.  The K stands for Kurtz or Short, which I only point out as some people have already asked me why anyone would saw off the barrel of a P38.  They did not.  This weapon was made this way.  It gave me pause when I saw it in the collection because it’s a period piece from the end of World War II.  These weapons were made in very limited numbers and the group within the Nazi regime that these weapons were made for were some of the worst of worst.  This weapon has no import markings so it was almost certainly taken off of a German officer by one of our boys.  When you look at the condition of this weapon which was made in 1945 and then keep in mind that WWII ended on September 2nd of 1945, I wonder if it was ever taken out of a holster.  The serial numbers from this production run ended around 3000 at the end of the war and this weapons serial # is 2966.  The fact that one of our soldiers took this as a trophy and it somehow made it’s way through seven decades of geographical and time travel and ended up in my shop in the condition it’s in is remarkable.  I have mixed feelings about this weapon being under my roof but there is no denying that it is a piece of history, and it’s presence here is a reminder that good does triumph over evil when we all stand together to face it.  Please contact the shop for pricing.  As always, thank you for reading the Blog at gunshinearms.com
