New Walther P99 AS and Walther CCP on 7/15/15…
Good afternoon all. This afternoon brings two new release weapons from Walther into the shop. The Walther CCP Pistol arrived today and if these weapons catch on, they will give the single stack concealed 9mm market a run for it’s money. This little weapon has that same ergonomic grip that makes the Walther pistols so desirable. Just a shade bigger than the GLOCK 43, she sports an extra two rounds of magazine capacity giving her 8+1 and the weapon comes with two mags. The most interesting part about this little 9mm is the Soft Coil technology which is a gas-delayed blowback system that uses gas pressure from the ignited cartridge by directing it through a small port in the barrel in front of the chamber to slow down and delay the rearward motion of the slide. This is accomplished by means of a piston contained inside of a cylinder located under the barrel that opposes the rearward motion of the slide until the gas pressure has declined after the bullet has left the barrel. This allows the slide to end its rearward motion, opening the breech, and ejecting the empty cartridge case. All of that means substantially less recoil in a very slim and compact 9mm pistol. That is a winning combination of traits.
Next up is the modern day release of the Walther P99 AS pistol. As the duty pistol for law enforcement agencies in North America, Europe and Asia, the P99 has endured the harshest operating conditions a handgun will ever see. What’s more, its ergonomics and engineering have evolved subtly in response to feedback from agencies over the years. The P99 is truly a world class handgun for professionals who must trust their lives to a firearm. It’s nice to see this weapon make it’s way into the shop. This is a striker fired Double Action/Single Action pistol. She’s chambered in 9mm and truly feels right in your hand.
