New Home Defense Tactical Shotguns on 4/18/15…

Good morning all.  Thankfully the weekend is here!  The shop received a bunch of ammunition and magazines late yesterday including lots of .380acp, 9mm, .223 and 5.56, a small amount of CCI .22lr, and a bunch of Glock magazines.  Also in are two very nice Home Defense Tactical Shotguns.

Let’s start with a favorite of mine in the Weatherby PA-459 20 gauge pump-action shotgun.  Some of my clients are always looking for a shotgun that is suitable and comfortable for not only Mom and Dad but something that their kids can handle if the need arises, saying that the parents have educated the kids in the proper use of these tools.  Shotguns are ideal home defense tools but 12 gauge can be daunting for some adult males let alone the wife and kids.  20 gauge is a lot more manageable with considerably less recoil and this weapon has a ported barrel which will reduce recoil even further.  The Weatherby PA-459 is extremely easy to wield as she has a nice big comfortable butt pad on the back of the stock and a pistol grip.  The sight picture is very easy to pick up with a Rear Ghost Ring and a Front High Viz Yellow Fiber Optic sight.  She has a 4 + 1 capacity and the pump action is smooth as can be while still having that “intruders should be looking for windows to jump out of” sound when you rack it.  All in all, this is an affordable and potent home defense tool that is easy to use and manageable by most anyone.  She is the bottom shotgun in the picture below.

Next up is more of a tactical thumper in the Mossberg 500 Persuader with Insight Tactical Light Forend.  This is a 12 gauge with the minimum 18.5″ barrel and 6+1 capacity.  Simple front bead sight is really an afterthought on this weapon as she comes with the Insight Tactical Light which has both continuous blinding and strobe blinding modes.  Pressure pad activation on the side of the forend makes life easy.  She is at the top of the picture below.
