Les Baer Custom Monolith Heavyweight 1911 on 10/16/15…
Good afternoon all and Happy Friday! Today brings a beautiful 1911 into the shop. A collector received this weapon from Les Baer Custom last month and had it in his safe until today. It has never been fired and I am the second person to actually touch the weapon. I took it out of the oil soaked bag, wiped it off, photographed it and put her in the case. Everything else is still wrapped up as it was in the Les Baer Custom shop before shipping. My client has two Bill Wilson Supergrades coming in that he needs to make room for (I want those problems). The build on this Les Baer Custom Monolith Heavyweight 1911 was begun in July of this year. There are a boat load of features on this weapon so bear with me as I run everything down.
She’s chambered in .45acp. The Monolith Heavyweight adds a full 3.5 oz. over and above the weight of the Premier II. All the weight has been added along the center line of the pistol on the dust cover so the balance is excellent. The added weight is a great way to reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil without adding the extra length and expense of a compensator. The Monolith’s steel frame has an extra long dust-cover (the only 1911 in the business) that matches the length of the slide. That gives the five-inch slide and the frame a blocky, one-piece appearance…really an awesome look. Les Baer Custom guarantees 3″ groups at 50 yards. The features list is long…..it includes:

That is a Monolith mouthful that a true 1911 fanatic will love to read over and over again. She has to sit in the shop for 15 days as this weapon came in from a private collector but that’s better than the 12 month wait you have to endure if you order one direct from Les Baer Custom.
