Good morning all and Happy Three Day Weekend! We have a nice Labor Day Saturday Flash Sale going today on some concealed carry sidearms. This morning brings a new GLOCK 42 and a new Walther CCP into the shop. Let’s get rolling on the GLOCK 42. This is GLOCK’s single stack .380acp pocket pistol. I own one and carry it constantly. They have very little felt recoil. With the advances in personal protection ammunition, there are hollow points and flat nose rounds for it that perform very similar to a 9mm. It can be carried in a pocket easily, it disappears inside the waist band (holstered of course) and is small and light enough to not add unnecessary weight to a woman’s purse. Next up is a new entry from Walther this year called the CCP. These weapons are specifically designed with women in mind but I know a lot of men that are starting to carry them as well. This is a small single stack 9mm sidearm that employs a system that Walther calls SOFTCOIL. SOFTCOIL is a gas-delayed blowback system uses gas pressure from the ignited cartridge by directing it through a small port in the barrel in front of the chamber to slow down and delay the rearward motion of the slide. What that means to you is it allows the slide to be easily manipulated to chamber a round. Barrel rise is reduced up to one third less than similar pistols and decreased barrel rise helps you remain focused to accurately hit your target shot after shot. This weapon has a manual lever safety on the left side of the frame so it is meant for right handed shooters.
