IPOK and TORK Medical Kits on 8/10/16…

IMG_7081It’s unfortunate, but the world we live in seems to continually get more complicated and less safe.  There is always an emphasis on being prepared from the perspective of firepower in our daily lives, which I’m obviously a big fan of, but I hear very little about being prepared to deal with the kind of injuries that can be associated with terrorism related events which are becoming more common place.

That level of preparation means having the correct kit with you and having the know-how to use it.  Some of the tools/medkits are in stock now with more options on the way and I’m working with some professionals to put together a course on treating combat injuries on the fly.  As soon as we get a course curriculum sorted out, I will be letting all of you know the details.  This is something that should be as important to everyone as tactical training considering the climate we now live in.

In stock now are the IPOK and TORK kits.  The IPOK (stands for Individual Patrol Officers Kit) comes with 2  Pair Talon® Nitrile Trauma Gloves (Black), 1  CAT® (Combat Application Tourniquet®),1  S-Rolled Gauze, and 1  Emergency Trauma Dressing (4″).  The IPOK is a great size to carry in your every day world.  It fits in a cargo short side pocket or purse easily and can be used to address wounds with immediacy until professional medical attention can be administered.

The TORK (stands for Tactical Operator Response Kit) comes with 1 x Bag (TORK™), 4 x Bear Claw Nitrile Glove, Lg. (2 pr.), 1 x Nasopharyngeal Airway 28F with Lubricant, 1 x HyFin® Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack, 1 x ARS® Needle Decompression Kit (14 G x 3.25 in.), 1 x C-A-T® (Combat Application Tourniquet®) Blk, 1 x Z-Fold Combat Gauze®, 1 x S-Rolled Gauze (4.5 in. x 4.1 yd), 1 x ETD 6 in. Emergency Trauma Dressing, 1 x pair Trauma Shears (7.25 in.), and 1 x Polycarbonate Eye Shield.  This is a more complete kit which can be purchased with (or without) the hemostatic gauze (quick clot gauze).  The photo below shows the size of the TORK with a GLOCK 17 mag next to it for scale.

Both of these kits are designed to be a quick but effective patch to a grave situation which can be the difference between life and death until real medical assistance can arrive on scene.  More to come on this theme with regard to classes.  As always, thank you for reading the Blog at gunshinearms.com
