FNH USA FNX-45 Tactical on 9/15/15…
Good evening all. Most of you know that I love a nice .45acp sidearm, and today brought in a beauty that will appeal to all of my Federal Tax Stamp collectors. The FNX-45 Tactical is one of the few full size .45’s that I don’t own yet (an oversight that will get corrected at some point soon), but a good friend of mine has one and I can still remember the day he purchased it from my shop and our subsequent trip to the range. I was still carrying a GLOCK 21SF at that point as an every day shop sidearm, and I was blown away by the differences between the two….as the differences favored the FNX. I use the GLOCK as a comparison as they are both polymer framed full size pistols chambered in .45acp. The FNX-45 is bigger, lighter, has a higher capacity, and has less recoil. The stability between shots was impressive which was borne out by the ability to place round after round in a tight pattern. I’ve since switched to Sig, but that’s a post for a different day. Now, for the specifics. She’s a DA/SA hammer fired pistol with a 5.3″ threaded barrel. She comes with Suppressor Height Night Sights that will still have a view over the stoutest of cans. The slide is drilled and machined for a variety of included mounting plates that will facilitate some of the nicer RMR optics. The FNX-45 Tactical comes with three 15 round magazines, interchangeable backstraps, and a fitted soft carrying case that has room for everything included and a suppressor when you add one to the collection. This model is finished in FDE. About the only downside on this weapon is it is not made for folks with smaller hands, and it’s somewhat gigantic frame makes finding an appropriate holster somewhat difficult. She belongs in a drop holster riding below your hip which means it’s essentially a home defense/zombie apocalypse sidearm. Considering she can be outfitted with an RMR, a Silencer, and a high brightness LED Surefire light right from the factory without any fuss or muss, I don’t see any problem with that.
