Consigned Winchester Model 94 .30-.30 and Savage Model 99C .308 6/11/14
Good morning all. We received some older lever action rifles on consignment yesterday and I had some time to run them down this morning and figure out what years they were manufactured in.
The Winchester Model 94 Lever Action is chambered in .30-.30 and was manufactured in 1957. There is some oxidation on the butt plate which was obviously metal back in those days (I can hear my shoulder wince as I look at this rifle) and that makes sense when you think about how you set a rifle against a tree before climbing up into a tree stand or settling down into a blind and sometimes the ground is damp. Otherwise the weapon is very clean. This weapon is now 57 years old and she is the top weapon pictured in the photo below.
The Savage Model 99C Lever Action is chambered in .308WIN and was manufactured in 1966. She also has the same oxidation pattern on the butt plate and that makes sense as these weapons are owned by the same person. Once again, the weapon is clean with the exception of the butt plate. This weapon actually has a detachable box magazine which is interesting for a lever action rifle from that time period. This weapon is now 48 years old and is the bottom weapon pictured in the photo below.
For those of you who like lever action rifles like I do, these are worth a look as they are not very common weapons anymore.
