Blackhawk Custom CHARON SBR .300BLKOUT…
Those of you that follow the Blog know that I really do love what I do. I have worn many occupational hats during my life and being the owner/operator of Gunshine Arms is by far my favorite. We all have vision and purpose inside us. It’s that vision and purpose that led me to the ever evolving path that this business is on now. I strive to give my clients the best experience possible whether they are buying their first weapon or their XXth. As such, I am always on the lookout for people with their own vision and purpose which drives them to create things that are far above the status quo.
Through a mutual friend (thanks Matt), I was able to meet the owner of Blackhawk Custom LLC and develop a relationship that allows me access to the weapons made by Blackhawk. While I strive to provide my clients with the best experience possible, Blackhawk Custom succeeds in providing my clients with the best equipment possible. These weapons are not readily available in the commercial world so it puts a smile on my face from ear to ear that they are accessible here at Gunshine Arms. Let’s get down to business.
The Blackhawk Custom CHARON SBR .300BLKOUT is a weapon that can be held to the highest of standards and come out on top. This SBR is mated to the DeadAir Sandman S silencer. This is the quietest most effective combination of caliber and equipment available. She has a 1 in 7 twist 9″ 416R Stainless Steel Barrel which is Cerakoted over top. The gas port is optimized for proper suppressed firing for both short and long range depending upon projectile weight. For true quiet, you can use 240grain subsonic rounds which will give you a brutal effective rang of 75-100 meters without holdover. If you need to shoot further distances, you can switch to 125 grain supersonic projectiles and be effective out to 450 meters. The gas system is optimized to run without adjustable gas blocks from subsonic suppressed to supersonic suppressed while maintaining the same recoil impulse.
She has 100% milspec forged lower and upper receivers. The upper receiver has the T markings engraved. Covering the 9″ barrel is an 8” Knight’s Armament URX3.1 Rail. The CHARON has an M16 Full Auto Bolt Carrier group (that does not mean she runs full auto) that is specially coated to allow for dry operation when environmental conditions make it necessary. 5 coil extractor (opposed to a 3 coil) ensuring reliable and consistent extraction of each round, upgraded ejector springs. The CHARON comes standard with a SOPMOD stock with two water tight battery compartments for your optics or NFA Paperwork and QD sling mounts.
Blackhawk sends these weapons with A.R.M.S. Backup Sights on them but can pair up with any sights or optics that meet your needs. The weapon featured in the picture above is Cerakoted in a color called Disruptive Grey but you can request your weapon in any color or pattern you like. As their name suggests, you can ask for any Customization you like when ordering your weapon. Please keep in mind that these are NFA Weapons as they are Short Barreled Rifles and Suppressed so the normal ATF Form 4 Applications are necessary.
One last thing. It caught my attention so I had to ask the question. The Model name of the SBR is CHARON. CHARON is the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead. I encourage you all to google Blackhawk CHARON to see where else the weapon pops up.
As always, thank you for reading the Blog at gunshinearms.com
