Happy Hump Day All! The new Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 2.0 pistols have been rolling into the shop since last week and getting a nice reception from our clients! Lots of nice upgrades over the original Shield pistols including an aggressive grip stippling, a much improved trigger, and some discreet but useful front slide serrations for easier manipulation of the weapon. Smith decided to throw the gun community a little bone here by adding a Crimson Trace Laser to the package for a minimal up-charge. The ambidextrous activation button on the laser is a nice improvement over the old laser as well with a bigger activation button.
The Shield has been a staple of the concealed carry community for years now and the improvements that Smith & Wesson has made on the original design are well received and much needed to keep up with the competition for this segment of the market. When looking at the M&P Shield 2.0 Crimson Trace, it’s hard to argue with improved ergonomics and trigger press when you are assessing a redesign of anyones equipment. The Crimson Trace Laser for a minimal up-charge is just gravy. The Glock 43, Springfield XDS and Walther PPS have a little more to keep an eye from Smith & Wesson these days.
