Remington Tac-14 & Mossberg Shockwave…

Good morning all!  These little shorty shottys have been dominating defense shotgun sales for a couple of months now.  I have to hand it to both Remington and Mossberg.  These are nice little beasts.  Overall length on both of them is about 27″ and both sport a 14″ barrel.

The Model 870 Tac-14 delivers legendary Model 870 reliability, a Raptor pistol grip and Magpul M-Lock forend.  The Tac-14 has the traditional 870 safety located on the trigger guard, which is great if you are right handed.  I like that Remington used the Magpul M-Lock forend as you may want to investigate putting a Magpul Hand Stop on the underside of it.

The Shockwave has the same Raptor bird’s head pistol grip as the Tac-14. Includes all the features that you are used to seeing on a Mossberg pump-action shotgun.  She has ambidextrous safety, dual extractors, positive steel-to-steel lockup, twin action bars, and a smooth operating anti-jam elevator.

Both of these weapons are great choices for a compact home defense shotgun if you understand your home environment.  I like the action on the Remington shotguns better but it’s a close comparison.  The safety placement on the Mossberg is better suited to me as you can access it from either hand.  I like that the Mossberg comes with a little strap on the forend to secure your hand to it while in use.  Both are 5 round capacity and both are priced fairly from the manufacturers for what you get out of them.
