Used Gem: Smith & Wesson Model 38 Mfg.1982
Afternoon all. It’s been a nice stretch for bringing in used weapons over the past couple of weeks. The little beauty you see in the photo is a Smith & Wesson Model 38 which was manufactured in 1982. The Model 38 is a J-Frame 5 shot with the shrouded hammer. The bluing is pristine, the cylinder has the faintest ghost of a roll mark on it, and the bore and the interior of the cylinder are pristine. The part that got me is that these weapons come with beautiful wood stocks on them and you can always gauge wear on the weapon in general by the wear on the stocks. There isn’t a mark on the stocks (grips). There isn’t an imperfection in the tight checkering on the side of the stocks, and the bottom of the stocks look like they just came out of the factory. I have my questions as to whether or not this weapon was ever shot outside of the factory which is saying something for a revolver that is 35 years old. These little sidearms have a following and you won’t find a nicer example of a Smith & Wesson Model 38 with this many years on it. Come by the shop and take a look. As always, thank you for reading the Blog at gunshinearms.com
