New Springfield EMP and EMP4 LW Champion 9mm 1/14/16…
Good afternoon all. This is a fun post for me to write as Springfield is taking a concept that I am a huge fan of and expanding it this year. The standard 3″ Springfield EMP Compact 1911 9mm is a gem of a weapon. She’s a single action only, sub-compact alloy framed, 3″ barreled 1911 chambered in 9mm. A nice set of traction friendly G10 grips sit on top of a magwell that contains a single stack 9 round 9mm magazine (the weapon comes with three of these 9 rounders). This is a small package to have a 9+1 capacity and the fit and finish is awesome. She sports tritium novak sights that yield a fantastic sight picture. The Ambi Safety levers and oversized beavertail make this little 1911 a joy to operate. She comes with the standard suitcase full of Springfield 1911 gear. This little monster is a homerun for someone looking for a high quality 9mm system in a small package.
Next up is the new arrival for Springfield in 2016. The 1911 EMP Champion Lightweight 9mm takes the original design and bumps it up to a 4″ barrel. The magazine capacity goes up to 10+1 and the grips change over to the very pretty Cocobolo wood grips that Springfield imports from down south. This one still has the lightweight alloy frame but sports a forged steel slide. All of the safety controls are the same, but the front sight is fiber optic on this model. Absolutely great addition to the lineup from Springfield. As always, thank you for reading the Blog at gunshinearms.com
