Smith & Wesson 986PC 9mm Revolver and Model 66 .357Mag 5/20/14…

Good evening all.  We received some great sidearms today but we are going to start with the Smith & Wesson revolvers that came in as they are new releases from Smith.  There will be more posts to come this evening.

Let’s start with Smith & Wesson’s new rock star of a revolver, the Model 986PC.  This is a seven shot 9mm revolver with a 5″ barrel that comes out of the Performance Center inside the Smith shop.  Performance Center guns originate from standard designs or are created from the ground up. From hand-cutting and fitting to fine tuning for precision, these firearms are top performers. Products from the Performance Center are the ultimate expression of old-world craftsmanship blended with modern technology.  The Model 986PC features a titanium fluted cylinder which is cut for moon clips, a precision crowned barrel, and a Performance Center mainspring.  Overall length is 10.5″ and she is lighter than most revolvers that sit on this frame, as 9mm does not have the muzzle flip that most revolver calibers boast.  She’s sweet, and rare, and priced below MSRP.

Smith and Wesson brought back their Model 66 Combat Magnum this year.  This is the return of the K-Frame .357Mag.  This is a 6 shot revolver chambered in .357Mag that has a 4.25″ barrel.  She is all stainless steel, with adjustable rear sights and a red ramp front sight.  I can’t really say why Smith decided to phase these weapons out of their lineup in the first place, but wheel gun aficionados are happy to see their return!  This is an extremely affordable alternative to some of the other .357Mag options in Smith’s lineup.
