Interference with Gunshine Arms business operations…

Good morning all.  Sorry it’s been a minute since I’ve had time to write but there have been some matters that I’ve been forced to attend to outside of normal business operations.  That’s really what I want to talk to you about this morning.  This past Thursday, the photos you see above were taken towards the end of my normal business hours.  As you can clearly see, there is no easy ingress or egress from the parking lot that serves the stores here in the plaza due to the activities of the Hillary Clinton campaign.  There is also no ease of access to my store in any way.

We choose to live and work in Boca Raton because of the beautiful environment and the sense of order that is maintained here in the city.  That safe and beautiful environment is maintained by an army of civilian city workers, the Boca Raton Police Department, the Boca Raton Fire Department and a lot of committees filled with concerned citizens who want to see our city grow and prosper.  All of these people do their jobs with pride and professionalism.  It’s why I choose to both live here and operate my business here.

The plaza that we operate in is zoned for B1 which stands for Local Business.  My understanding is that B1 allows for Retail and Office Space and that no where in the code does it allow for a Meeting Place which is how the space is being used by the Clinton Campaign.  I have spoken with Code Enforcement about this and determined that the campaign is operating without a Certificate of Occupancy as well.  As all of us know, that actually live in this city, the folks at Code Enforcement are no joke.  Almost everyone I know that lives here or operates a business here has had to interact in some capacity with the Code folks at some point during their lives.  Again, this is why Boca Raton is such a desirable place to live.  There is beauty and order here.  Code Enforcement has told me that they are addressing the issue and I appreciate their efforts.

The folks on the other side of my shop’s wall operate with an ego…no, that’s not quite strong enough…they operate with such HUBRIS that they feel as though they can do whatever they want without adhering to the same guidelines that we all operate within because of who they represent.  This trait is doubly frustrating as the majority of these folks have been imported from elsewhere and don’t care about the disruption they cause because they will be gone in 47 days.  It would seem to me that people who represent such lofty ambitions would want to be held to a higher standard than the rest of us, not be excused from standards all together.  My hope is that instead of taking the easy political solution to their administrative problem, they actually fall in line with the rest of us normal folks and do what’s right.  The easy political solution would be to have someone above all of our pay grades make a phone call to the highest pay grade in the city and request an exemption or an expedited solution.  It seems that the message the Clinton Campaign is pushing is that they are for the people.  I have my own opinions about that.  In reality, I just hope that they choose to behave the way that the people they hope to govern are forced to behave on an every day basis.  As always, thank you for reading the Blog at gunshinearms.com
